GUIDELINES AND SPECIFICATIONS

Guidelines for creation of  image banners

There are no specific rules for creating image banners as GIF, JPG and PNG. Dimensions and maximum weights should not be exceeded.

 

Important regarding HTML5

We do not host HTML5 material, such as image files to build the banner locally. We kindly ask you/client to send us a third party script with the banner hosted elsewhere. 

 

Important information regarding flash ads

We do not recommend the usage of flash (swf) banners since most browsers no longer show flash content automatically on site.

  

Building polite (to be able to stream video, use high resolution images etc.)

To be able to load heavier external resources such as video and high-resolution-images the material needs to be build through a polite banner, that is loaded after the website. Please note that the max weight on the format (specified above) is the prefect weight to load initially prior to onload, all other weight should come after onload when the site has finished loading.

DESKTOP + TABLET: Initial tag load weight may reach 200 kB, after onload weight may reach 1000 kB.

MOBILE: Initial tag load weight may reach 150 kB, after onload weight may reach 500 kB.

Our marker is set at 4,5 seconds so after that the polite weight can be loaded up to 500-1000 kB on top of the weight loaded prior to onload. This is to avoid material slowing down our site. Please contact us for more information.

 

Video in banner desktop

  • – Format: SWF linked to FLV or HTML5 script delivered to us, hosted by client.
  • – Framerate: 24 fps
  • – Codec: ON2 VP6, or H263
  • – Sound: Permitted only in user interaction (click/mouse-over)

Video in banner mobile

  • – There must be space for the video in the banner, as a ”frame” for the posibility to implement the banner.

  • – Format: mp4 and/or WEBM
  • – Video lenght: 10 seconds
  • – Sound: Permitted only in user interaction (click/mouse-over)

 

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR OUR DESKTOP FORMATS

Take Over: Interstitial 

A take over ad is shown on top of the websites content. The surface around the interstitial will appear dark with a transparent color. The take over ad can have various dimensions. We can not run third party scripts, we need to host the ad. If you wish to measure impressions and clicks send us an imps- and clickcounter/url.  

  • – Maxweight 200 kB
  • – Formats: GIF, JPG, PNG (NOT third party scripts)
  • – Sizes: 800×600 or 1200×800 px
  • – The background color of the banner should not be black since there will be a black close button implemented in the upper right corner.
  • – The take over ad will be approx. 6 seconds

 

Bare in mind: Deliver material as a file, not a script since we need to host the ad. The site is loaded at the same time as the ad so we recommend you to keep the ad as light weighted as possible.

Outsider Sticky

Outsider sticky is placed on the right side of the page. If you wish to measure impressions and clicks send us an imps- and clickcounter/url.

Transformer – banner fit for multiple placements

The transformer banner can be placed in any space where squared images can be shown, the images are responsive and will resize depending on the size of the placement.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR OUR MOBILE FORMATS

Mobile banners

Ads must be in GIF, JPG, PNG, script or HTML5. Animated GIF’s are permitted. Do not deliver flash material for mobile since Apple do not run flash in mobile devices.

  • – Max weight image file: 150 kB
  • – Max weight rich media: 150 kB (initial tag load)

We recommend you use a URL to a page made adjustable to mobilephones.
  • – Banners with white or transparent background needs a dark frame at least 1 px border.

 

Animated GIF

We recommend that the message of the ad is shown in the first frame since some older versions of Android has problems with animated gif-banners. Link the ad to a landingpage of a mobile adapted site.

 

Spincube

A rich media format that has got the shape of a 3D cube and will swop sides when the visitor swipes over the screen. We collaborate with a producer of banners which can help you with this (to an extra cost), for this we need four images and URL sent to es.or1503059195tem@s1503059195noita1503059195repod1503059195a1503059195 five business days before start.

A native is placed as an article on site, on the start page on www.metro.se there will be a puff to the article page.

Images and textfile should be sent to the sales contact latest 7 days prior to publish of the native.

Metros editors will create the native and send a draft  to the client for approval before publishing the article.
